Sometimes the worst part of any event…for the host AND the guest is check in!
First of all, if you can, streamline your advance registration by directing everyone to an online registration tool and make your life much easier. Link it to your website, link it to your social media accounts, and include it in your email signature.
Just say NO to taking credit cards over the phone and trying to manually update a spreadsheet! Nobody wants to download a flyer, print it, fill it out, find a checkbook, find a stamp, get the address, and mail it! YUK!
So, now that it’s settled. Let’s think ahead to the event itself.
Decide if you want your guests to bring a physical ticket and/or have it available on a mobile device. Most online registration tools provide a detailed confirmation, but you can also request a ticket. If you’re using Active Calendar to promote several of your free or paid events a unique QR code is provided for each ticket and most can automatically “check-in” the guest as a record of attendance.
For larger events, the scannable ticket is the fastest way to go.
If the event requires nametags, the ticket option may add an extra step to check in. Regardless, a complete dataset spreadsheet can easily generate nametags using WORD.
And remember! Registration is key for both paid and free events!
